The Medialux project
This project aims to produce and diffuse quantitative and qualitative information on Luxembourg’s media environment and its evolution in order to maintain and develop a diverse and sustainable media landscape in Luxembourg.
Coordinated by Dr. Raphaël Kies and Dr. Stéphanie Lukasik, the Medialux project stems from the two research agreements (2022-2024 and 2024-2027) concluded between the University of Luxembourg and Elisabeth Margue, Minister for Communications and Media for the 2nd agreement.

The goals of the project
- To carry out an annual survey containing quantitative and qualitative data on the Luxembourg media landscape, identifying and analyzing the actors and media uses in Luxembourg as well as their evolution. The survey will be based on the Media Pluralism Monitor which is coordinated by the Center for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom at the European University Institute.
- To carry out specific research in the field of the (digital) media. At regular intervals, the University and the State will discuss potential large-scale research projects that it could be interesting to explore further.
- To organize an annual cycle of public conferences on the media in society to which national and international experts will be invited.
Through these commitments, Medialux will contribute to develop the diffusion of knowledge with regard to the media and professional journalism in a societal context marked by the phenomena of disinformation and misinformation. Finally, the Medialux project aims to deepen the questions related to the legal, political, ethical and sociological effects of digitalization of information.
